This blog represents the work from the class “Sound In Time and Place: Exploring Sound in the Silence”, directed by Diane Moser at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music (NY,NY) Spring 2014. This music composition class was conceived as an opportunity to explore sound in perceived silence through a collaboration with the Museum of Modern Art and their current exhibit; “There Will Never Be Silence: Scoring John Cage 4’43”. Students used the pieces from the exhibit, as well as the process of each artist, as a basis for composition.
